Home / Glossary / Refill Reminder

Refill Reminder

Definition: A notification that alerts users when their medication supply is running low, calculated from the remaining dose count and the current schedule.

Examples

  • "Lisinopril: 3 pills remaining. Refill needed within 3 days."
  • "Amoxicillin: 0 pills remaining. Course complete — no refill needed."

Why It Matters

Running out of medication is one of the most preventable causes of treatment interruption. Refill reminders reduce gaps in therapy by alerting patients 7, 3, and 1 day before supply runs out. For chronic conditions, continuous medication is essential — a 3-day gap in blood pressure medication can cause a measurable increase.
